A Day in Inpatient Mental Health Treatment
Before you arrive at Rose Hill Center, our intake specialists will ensure that you know what to bring and are familiar with our campus’s general layout. They will also help you understand what to expect during your time here, including the rules and regulations.
On your admission day, you should arrive by 9:00 a.m. and expect a busy day. The morning is spent handling paperwork, getting your photo ID, reviewing medications, and unpacking. You will have time to meet and socialize with other residents at lunch. You will also meet your case manager, the go-to person for you and your family, while you are here. When your family leaves, you have more time to get settled in.
Once you have settled into the structure, you will begin your regular daily schedule, which is structured to simulate the activities most adults engage in daily. Following a healthy breakfast, you report to your assigned job at 9:00 a.m. Residents choose from either the kitchen, housekeeping, animal care, or horticulture teams.
Engagement in meaningful daily activities not only helps develop a sense of purpose but builds critical skills, including:
- Time management
- Responsibility
- Accountability to self and others
- Taking direction
- Completing tasks
- Interpersonal skills
- Communication skills
Lunch provides another healthy meal and time to socialize before heading to group therapy or guided activities. We offer an array of therapeutic groups, social activities, and healthy mind/body groups. Choosing a variety of activities and groups helps provide a well-rounded experience. After groups and on weekends, residents are free to relax and socialize. Residents have time to access their phones to communicate with friends and family while developing a healthy relationship with technology.
